Travel Insurance from Israel

Travel Insurance from Israel

When traveling abroad, either for business or pleasure, it is essential to insure oneself in the event of a medical emergency, lost or stolen luggage or last minute schedule changes.

There are various types of travel insurance plans that exist in Israel. For example, there are special policies available to cover backpackers, as well as annual policies for business people and frequent travelers.

Travel Insurance can be extended to include:

  • Pregnancy
  • Pre-existing medical conditions
  • Extreme/Winter sports

Travel Insurance in Israel predominately covers medical issues that may arise while abroad and must be purchased prior to the date of departure. Should you have pre-existing medical conditions, it is prudent to arrange the insurance well in advance in order to receive approval from the insurance company’s underwriters.

It is important to note that in order to issue a travel insurance policy in Israel, one must be registered either with a Kupat Cholim (HMO) or private health insurance plan.

For people traveling with expensive and valuable items (e.g. laptops, jewelry, etc), in order to ensure that you have full coverage while abroad, it is recommended to extend cover for those specific items on your home content’s insurance policy to “All Risk Global Cover”. This is because comprehensive plans have limited luggage cover.

Should the need arise to extend your trip, please contact our office before the last day of your original travel policy.

Consider these 9 things before taking out travel insurance.
